TREASURE COAST CHAPTER – NARPM MEETING MINUTES 1-10-03

The meeting was called to order at 7:15am. Present were Kathleen Corcoran, Brenda Gerdes, Nancy Greene, Tom Corcoran, Jim Johnson and Lou Anne Reagle. The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved as read.

The Treasurer’s report had a starting balance of $536.72. Money was credited for the entrance fee and 50/50 from the November meeting totaling $138.00 followed by expenses of $344.83 leaving a balance of $329.89. Income of $250.00 from dues paid up to January 9, 2003, brought the ending balance to $579.89. Jim Johnson was asked to research what was needed to file with the IRS for the non-profit corporation.

Kathleen reviewed with the members a “Letter from the President” for the website. It explained the benefits of membership and will be updated over the year.

Brenda briefed us on the change of officers. The position of president-elect will be filled by Nancy Greene and Vice-president by Tom Corcoran.

Twin Brother’s Flooring will sponsor the January 23, 2003 meeting. Joyce Klingle will install the new officers but time will not permit her to speak as planned.  Brenda suggested Olin Wilcox of National Real Estate Advisors speak instead. In planning for the meeting Tom will email the flyers to all members, Brenda will give information to Kathy at the Martin County Board and Kathleen will notify Peggy at the St. Lucie Board.

The March 27, 2003 meeting will have a Panel of Experts. It was suggested that there be a mediator and two recommendations were Wendal Davis or Chris Twohey. A list of 20 questions will be predetermined for the panel.

At the FARPM convention at St. Augustine in May, Brenda and Alex will host the Hospitality Suite. Kathleen recommended to everyone to get their reservations in early to arrange for the rooms to be together.

Nancy who is chairing the membership committee stated she will be going to some of the offices that she knows are doing property management to encourage them to join TCNARPM. Brenda offered her assistance.

Brenda has been asked to attend the FAR Property Manager’s meeting in Orlando this month. She asked the Board for suggestions of issues that we feel are important to us. We felt NARPM needed more recognition with FAR and Tom mentioned that some of the Condo associations are charging excessive fees for the interview and application process.

          Meeting adjourned at 8:15am.
